WHAT’S MY STORY?

Food. It’s always been about food.

Today, I’m an editor-at-large for the San Francisco Standard.
Read my writing here. A few personal favorites: a story about BYOB (beef tallow), a memorial to Charles Phan, a bow-down to Original Joe’s, thoughts on politics and donuts, and a deep analysis of Kellergate.

Every week, I also write a juicy newsletter about the city’s food scene called
Off Menu. It is free. Subscribe! (Please, I beg you.)

Prior to the Standard, I worked as a senior editor for San Francisco Magazine and 7x7. I have contributed to the likes of Eater, Saveur, Sunset, Taste, Bon Appétit and Gourmet (RIP). I’ve also written a few cookbooks, including
Tacolicious (Ten Speed Press).

For seven years, I was an active partner in
Tacolicious where I worked as the Branding and Marketing Director. In that time, I helped launch five restaurant concepts. We also grew our little market stand into a seven T-lish locations throughout the Bay Area and LA.

It took having my skin in the game to make me a more empathetic food writer — to understand how equally relentless and rewarding the restaurant industry is. (Ok, maybe the scale is tipped towards relentless.) My claim to fame? José Andrés once retweeted my Bon Appétit mea culpa.
